Nearly one hundred ÐÜèÊÓÆµleaders and representatives gathered in Washington, D.C., on October 24–25 for the 2019 Coordinated Committee Meeting. The event provides an opportunity for AERA’s committees to address their goals and to come together collectively to further AERA’s mission. Read more

 

Societies Consortium on Sexual Harassment in STEMM Holds First All-Member Convening
On September 16, ÐÜèÊÓÆµparticipated in the first all-member convening of the Societies Consortium on Sexual Harassment in STEMM. ÐÜèÊÓÆµplays a major leadership role in the consortium, which was launched in February 2019. Read more

ÐÜèÊÓÆµto Comment on Proposed Changes to Civil Rights Data Collection, Urges Member Engagement
ÐÜèÊÓÆµis planning to comment on proposed changes by the U.S. Department of Education Office of Civil Rights to the Civil Rights Data Collection, which were published in a Federal Register notice on September 19. ÐÜèÊÓÆµurges members with an interest in these data to submit comments by November 18. Read more

Reminder – IES Director Mark Schneider Seeks Feedback on Off-Cycle Competitions and Research Topics
In August, Mark Schneider, director of the Institute of Education Sciences, wrote a blog post calling for feedback on three proposed off-cycle competitions and on research topics to be included in the IES Request for Applications in FY 2021. Read more

 

EHR Advisory Committee Holds Fall Meeting
On October 29, the National Science Foundation Education and Human Resources Advisory Committee held its fall meeting to discuss the EHR directorate’s activities and priorities. Read more

HEA Reauthorization Kicks Off With Introduction of House and Senate Legislation

On October 16, the House Education and Labor Committee introduced the College Affordability Act, which would reauthorize the Higher Education Act. Most pertinent for education researchers, the legislation includes provisions of the College Transparency Act. Read more
