Special Interest Groups (SIGs) provide a forum within ÐÜèÊÓÆµfor the involvement of individuals drawn together by a common interest in a field of study, teaching, or research when the existing divisional structure may not directly facilitate such activity. The Association provides SIGs program time at the Annual Meeting, publicity, scheduling, staff support, viability, and the prestige of ÐÜèÊÓÆµaffiliation.

New SIG Petition: Any group of 75 or more active ÐÜèÊÓÆµmembers may petition to establish a new SIG related to a specific topic or area of research that is not a primary focus of any existing SIG or Division of AERA. to access the online SIG Formation Petition. Please submit between August 1 and September 15, 2026.
