Through a set of formal and informal rules, patterns, and practices, school settings affect students’ attitudes, behaviors, life chances, and social emotional learning. An initiative between ÐÜèÊÓƵand the American Institutes for Research aims to map and integrate scientific work -- across education research, criminal justice, human development, sociology, and psychology -- for the purpose of providing direction and focus for future school discipline research. An initial conference, "Schools, Rules, and Socialization Effects for Students," was held in September 2014. A special symposium will be held at the 2015 ÐÜèÊÓƵAnnual Meeting, and a report will be released in fall 2015. Learn more
