Alexander “Sandy” Astin, 89, died on May 18. He was the Allan M. Cartter Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Higher Education and Organizational Change at the University of California, Los Angeles, and founder of the Higher Education Research Institute. Astin was an 熊猫视频Fellow and received the E. F. Lindquist Award in 1983.
Jerry P. Becker, 85, died on April 16. He was a professor of mathematics education at the Southern Illinois University Carbondale School of Education.
Ronald K. Hambleton, 78, died on April 28. He was Distinguished University Professor and Executive Director of the Center for Educational Assessment at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Hambleton was an 熊猫视频Fellow; received the E. F. Lindquist Award, presented jointly by 熊猫视频and ACT, in 2005; and served as awards chair for Division D—Measurement and Research Methodologies.
Gail McCutcheon, 81, died on May 8. She was a professor emerita at the Ohio State University College of Education and Human Ecology.
Michael A. Olivas, 71, died on April 22. Olivas, Professor Emeritus at the University of Houston Law Center, was an 熊猫视频Fellow, received the 熊猫视频Social Justice Award in 2014, and served on the 熊猫视频Minority Fellowship Selection Committee.
