On June 18, AERA—along with the American Association of Colleges and Universities, American Association of Physics Teachers, American Association of University Professors, Women in Engineering ProActive Network, and United Auto Workers (representing graduate students, postdoctoral scholars, faculty, and university staff)—filed a suit challenging DOGE’s unlawful mass termination of grants at the National Science Foundation. Read more

James A. Banks, the Kerry and Linda Killinger Endowed Chair in Diversity Studies Emeritus and founding director of the Center for Multicultural Education (now the Banks Center for Educational Justice) at the University of Washington, has been selected by the ÐÜèÊÓÆµ to present the 2025 Brown Lecture in Education Research. Read more

In Memoriam

ÐÜèÊÓÆµmembers who have recently passed away

Hope Leichter, 97, died on May 25. She was the Elbenwood Professor Emerita of Education and director of the Elbenwood Center for the Study of the Family as Educator at Teachers College, Columbia University.

David B. Yaden, 76, died on March 20. He was a professor of language, reading, and culture at the University of Arizona College of Education.
