Lupia to Lead NSF鈥檚 Social, Behavioral and Economic Sciences Directorate
On July 9, Arthur (Skip) Lupia, Hal R. Varian Professor of Political Science at the University of Michigan, was named the new assistant director for the National Science Foundation鈥檚 Social, Behavioral and Economic Sciences Directorate. His term begins September 1. Read more
Albro Appointed for IES Commissioner of NCER; Other Education Appointments Confirmed
Elizabeth Albro was appointed to serve as commissioner of the National Center for Education Research at the Institute of Education Sciences and began her new role on July 9. Prior to this, she served as the associate commissioner for teaching and learning at NCER. Read more
Dillingham Nominated for Census Bureau Directorship
On July 18, President Trump announced the nomination of Steven Dillingham, who has served in leadership roles at federal statistical agencies, to serve as the next director of the United States Census Bureau. The nomination requires Senate confirmation. Read more

HHS Releases Draft Guidance for Burden-Reducing Provisions in Revised Common Rule
In June, the Department of Health and Human Services delayed the general compliance date for the 2018 requirements of the revised Common Rule to January 20, 2019, to allow the implementation of three burden-reducing provisions for research studies. Read more
