2025 Conference Highlights
We had a very exciting 2025 Business Meeting in Denver, Colorado. We celebrated the 20th anniversary of the TACTL SIG with a panel titled 20 Years of TACTL: Reflecting on Our Past and Reshaping Our Future. Thank you to our panelists: Dr. Natalie Milman (George Washington University), Dr. Debra Sprague (George Mason University), Dr. Dawn Hathaway (George Mason University), and Dr. Jeff Carpenter (Elon University). We had celebrated to best paper award winners. One award went to Dr. Hongbiao Yin (The Chinese University of Hong Kong) and Dr. Chan Wang (The Chinese University of Hong Kong). The other award went to Dr. André Meyer (University of Potsdam), Dr. Eric Richter (University of Potsdam), Dr. Jeff Carpenter (Elon University), Dr. Dirk Richter (University of Potsdam), and Dr. Sebastian Kempert (University of Potsdam). Our early career award was presented to Dr. Jessica Herring-Watson (University of Central Arkansas).ÌýThe winners of our outstanding reviewers were Dr. Chunling Niu (University of the Incarnate Word), Dr. Margaret (Maggie) Niess (Oregon State University),Ìýand Dr. Sean Justice (Texas State University).ÌýThe graduate student travel award was presented to Emma Liptrot (McGill University).

2024 Conference Highlights
The 2024 Business Meeting was a wonderful opportunity to network with colleaguesÌýand welcome new members to the TACTL SIG. The winners of our best paper award were Dr. Mike Karlin (California State University - Dominguez Hills), Dr. Yin-Chan Liao (Georgia State University), Dr. Conrad Oh-Young, (University of Nevada, Las Vegas), Dr. Swati Mehta (California State University - Dominguez Hills), and Dr. Mahya Minaiy (California State University - Dominguez Hills).ÌýOur early career award was presented to Dr. Jennifer Darling-Arduana (Georgia State University).ÌýThe winners of our outstanding reviewers were Dr. Aigul Rakisheva (University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign), Dr. Nathan Hawk (Texas A&M University),Ìýand Shonn Cheng (National Taipei University of Technology).ÌýGraduate student travel awards were presentedÌýtoÌýMathew Nyaaba (University of Georgia) and Lauren Weisberg (University of Florida).

ÌýThe 2023 Business Meeting was full of highlights. Our guest speakers, Dr. Daniel G. Krutka and Dr. Marie K. Heath, presented us withÌýan engaging talk and interactive session on asking technoskeptical questions aboutÌýChatGPT. The winners of our best paper award wereÌýDr. Jessa Henderson (George Washington University), Dr. Natalie Milman (George Washington University), Dr. Sumreen Asim (Indiana University Southeast), and Dr. Marie Heath (Loyola University Maryland).ÌýOur early career award was presented to Dr. K. Bret Staudt WilletÌý(Florida State University). The winners of our outstanding reviewers were Dr. Lauren Bagdy (University of Georgia), Lisa Lundgren (Utah State University),Ìýand Dr. Aaron Bruewer (University of the District of Columbia).ÌýGraduate student travel awards were presentedÌýtoÌýJessa Henderson (George Washington University) and Yin Hong Cheah (University of Texas at Austin).

The 2022 Business Meeting was full of highlights. Our guest speaker, Dr. Sumreen Asim, along with her colleaguesÌýDr. Marie K. Health, Dr. Natalie B. Milman, and Jessa HendersonÌýpresented us withÌýan engaging talk on power, privilege, and prejudice embedded in educationalÌýtechnology. The winnerÌýof our best paper award wasÌýDr.ÌýK. Bret Staudt Willet (Florida State University). Our early career award was presented to Dr.ÌýJoshua Rosenberg (University of Tennessee, Knoxville). Graduate Student Travel Awards were presented to LeHong Shi (University of Georgia) and Run Wen (McGill University).
2021 Conference Highlights
The 2021 business meeting was unusual as we met in a virtual environment. Although challenging, we were able to network andÌýcelebrate the accomplishments of TACTL SIG members. The winners of the Best Paper Award were Pamela Hickey and Matthew Iannone. The Early Career Award was presented to Xiaoming Zhai.
2017 Conference Highlights
The 2017 business meeting was full of highlights. Our guest speaker, Dr. Krista Glazewski of Indiana University presented us withÌýan engaging talk.Ìý The winners of our best paper award wereÌý Chrystalla Mouza, Lori Pollocak, Yi-cheng Pan and Sule Yilmaz Ozden.Ìý Our early career award was presented to Royce Kimmons (University of Idaho).
2015 conference highlights The 2015 annual meeting, in the windy city, Chicago (april 16-20) was a huge success for our sig. We had a great turnout at the business meeting with an exciting speaker (thanks Norm and his gang). We gave out awards, recognized the new governing board members, and had fun talking shop with friends, old and new.
2014 conference highlights the conference this year was in philadelphia, pa from april 3 – 7, 2014. Ìýthe tactl sig was well represented with a largeÌýnumber of sessions. additionally, the tactl sig business meeting was well attended and featured a special invited talk by Punya Mishra (seen here with past chair, Maggie Niess):
