Message from the ChairÌý

July 2025Ìý

Ìý

Dear TAR-SIG Colleagues:

What a pleasure it is for me to begin my term as Chair of the TAR-SIG! As a teacher education doctoral candidate and classroom teacher, I see the value and importance of our SIG! I want to thank the former Co-Chairs of our SIG, Dr. Mary Klehr and Dr. Alan Amtzis, for all that they have done and continue to do for our SIG, as well as for their ongoing mentorship!Ìý

I hope this newsletter finds you at a moment where you can take a breath and recharge this summer. We are living in uncertain times, particularly concerning educational research. Because of this, I believe it is essential to advocate for slow scholarship. In other words, we need to conduct teacher research that is both intentional and impactful for classroom teachers and their students.

Attending the TAR-SIG sessions during ÐÜèÊÓƵ2025 Denver, I was particularly impressed with the level of engagement of the participants and the richness of the papers and presentations. I heard several folks new to our SIG remark about how much they appreciated how we structured our sessions and allowed for authentic engagement. Our goal is to continue to provide transformative and intellectual spaces like these for our community.Ìý

A big shout out to Dr. Lisa Rose Johnson and Dr. Susanne Croasdaile for their hard work as our SIG’s co-program chairs. The success of our ÐÜèÊÓƵprogram can undoubtedly be attributed to them. Thanks also to all of those who serve on TAR-SIG Executive Board for their continued service. In particular, I would like to thank Dr. Kierstin Giunco, our secretary/treasurer, and Dr. Christopher Martell, our webmaster.Ìý

On behalf of the TAR-SIG, I invite you all to submit proposals for ÐÜèÊÓƵ2026 (see call for proposals)Ìý

Wishing you all a wonderful and restful summer!

Kevin Cataldo,

TAR-SIG Chair
