On September 22, ÐÜèÊÓÆµExecutive Director Felice J. Levine moderated a congressional briefing—“NIH Priority Setting: How Peer Review Assists the NIH in Selecting the Best Science”—held by the Coalition to Promote Research.
The Friends of IES organized two briefings in Washington, D.C., titled “Building Strength in Numbers: How Do Early Interventions in Math Instruction Add Up?”
which highlighted important research on early math education.

On September 8, the
Federal Register
published a
Notice of Proposed Rulemaking
from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) noting proposed changes to the Common Rule, a set of federal regulations that guide the protection of human subjects in research.
The Senate passed a continuing resolution (CR) on September 30, the final day of the 2015 fiscal year, to keep the federal government open. The House has until midnight to follow suit to avert a government shutdown starting October 1.
On September 15, President Obama called on federal agencies and departments to use “behavioral science insights” to “design government
policies to better serve the American people.”
