Welcome to the Writing & Literacies SIG!

Welcome to the Writing and Literacies SIG. We are one of AERA's largest special interest groups. Our SIG welcomes a diverse group of scholars working across disciplines and methodologies to do expansive scholarly work relating to topics of writing and literacies across formal and informal educational spaces. Resisting research that takes a deficit perspective on learners' literacy, we collectively work to move the field toward justice and better futures for all learners.

There are many ways to get involved, learn in community, and share your work. Check out some of the opportunities listed below. We are proud to support a strong Graduate Student Board who host monthly Bluesky chats on current topics in the field and facilitate ongoing podcast episodes featuring scholars from our SIG.

Consider renewing your membership in our SIG! Your investment allows us to continue to support graduate student registration and cross-SIG socials for years to come.

All my best, Dr. Karis Jones
